Step inside Art at Vixen’s home gallery to see The Wild Within, an exhibition of original animal portraits by Lancashire artist Kirsten Todd, presented as part of the Visual Artists Association’s Open Spaces Global art trail.

Each animal embodies a different quality, from curiosity and wisdom to force and resilience. Kirsten builds the paintings through layers of colour and intuitive marks, allowing the animals and their surroundings to flow into one another, symbolising our connection to the animal kingdom, nature itself and all that exists.

OpenSpaces is organised by the Visual Artists Association (VAA) a professional body supporting artists through advocacy, education, and opportunities.  The glodbal art trail aims to transform everyday spaces — including homes, cafés, libraries, shop windows and community venues into temporary exhibition sites. The international initiative aims to make contemporary art more accessible while creating direct meaningful connections between artists and local audiences.

The wider OpenSpaces 2026 trail runs from 2–28 November 2026.  

Each OpenSpaces venue features QR-coded signage linking visitors to a global digital map, where they can learn more about participating artists and explore exhibitions happening worldwide during the trail.
